The Art of People Powered Storytelling Through Social Media

Petri Darby is the Director of Brand Marketing & Digital Strategy at Make-A-Wish Foundation of America. He blogs at darbyDARNIT. And he’s an all around funny guy (I love the one where he’s reading O Magazine).

I had a chance to spend time with Petri at SXSW this year where we talked about how Make-a-Wish Foundation of American is using social media as part of their digital strategy. His perspective storytelling and letting the Make-a-Wish brand roam free in the social space was impressive.

Take a few minutes to listen to what he’s go to say (he’ll come by to share more in the comments if you have specific questions) …

I thought there was great take aways in this video. I especially love the Bik promotion of shaving your head, whether it’s for real or virtually and receiving donations from it.

Petri – Would love to know more about how that started. Outsourced developer to create the virtual head shaving experience? What’s the website?

    Thanks!

Thanks for taking time to comment Allison. The Bic promotion website is: http://www.bic4good.com/

The promotion originally was capped at a maximum $75,000 donation, but they reached that so quickly that the company upped it to $125,000 and reached that a couple months before the campaign was slated to end.

I don’t know how they developed the virtual shave platform, but I am happy to ask. I’m guessing it was an outside developer, but I’ll get back to you on that.
